Go Hard, Off the Grid...

Watagans | NSW

The Watagan State Forest is part of a chain of state forests which start from Ourimbah in the south and stretch north to Cessnock. The most well known is the Watagan as it contains not only beautiful mountain scenery but has all the necessary facilities for bushwalkers, four wheel drivers or campers.

Riddled throughout this beautiful area are fantastic trails that weave back and forth across the main fire trails and dirt access roads that lead through the main campsites and hiking areas of the Watagan. These trails in some sections are deep ruts that allow you to bank in and burl through the sections, soaking up polished tree roots and boulders as you go. There are sandy woops, creek crossings, gully jumps and plenty of rock ledges to test the balliest of characters who think their dirt bike doubles up as a trials bike.

There are some great hillclimbs to be had (some with rio enforcing), and lots of tight, fast goat trails carving through the bush. A great place to go riding with your mates. You'll need a registered bike to ride in this area. Look after the environment, stick to the trails.

Check out the Google Map below and the Videos for more insight, and enjoy this wonderful Australian playground.
